Creating a Gig

The service you offer in the marketplace is called a "Gig." Your Gig is your opportunity to showcase your talent and provide clients with all the information they need before placing an order.

If this is your first time switching to selling, you'll need to complete the freelancer onboarding process before creating your first Gig. Learn more about creating your freelancer profile.

Gigs and freelancer accounts can only be created on a desktop.

Number of Gigs allowed

The maximum number of Gigs varies depending on your freelancer level:

New: 4 Gigs
Level 1 & 2: 10 Gigs
Top Rated: 30 Gigs

If you attempt to create a new Gig after reaching your limit, you will see a banner notifying you that you've reached the maximum number of Gigs.
To create additional Gigs, you'll need to delete existing ones.

Steps to create your Gig

  1. Log in > Switch to Selling > My Business > Gigs
  2. Click My Profile > Create a New Gig
  3. After completing the following steps below > Save & Continue.

When creating your Gig, make sure to pay attention to our Gig policies and Prohibited Services guidelines to ensure compliance with Fiverr's standards.

Step 1: Overview

    • Your service type should be immediately recognizable to clients. Fiverr helps you get started with "I will…".
    • Certain special characters like &, /, ", and + are not allowed in the Gig title. Use only letters, numbers, and basic symbols.
    • If you edit your Gig's title, the URL won't change to match it.
    • Select the appropriate category and subcategory for your Gig from the drop-down menu.
    • You won’t be able to change your Gig’s category after it’s published, so choose carefully.
    • Note that there are vetted-only categories, which require freelancers to be evaluated and approved by Fiverr's team before they can participate. Learn more about vetted-only categories.
    • To catagorize your Gig, add up to 5 words or phrases that best describe your Gig.
    • For better search results, add up to 5 tags that describe your Gig.
    • Make sure to use relevant keywords to attract your target audience.
    • Tags should be short phrases or keywords relevant to your service.

Step 2: Scope & pricing

    • You can choose to offer up to three packages (Basic, Standard, Premium) to give clients different options. This helps clients compare and choose the package that fits their needs and budget.
    • Delivery time: Use the drop-down to select the number of days it will take for you to perform your service.
    • At the top right, there's a toggle called Offer packages — turn it off to offer just one flat-rate service.
    • Fiverr requires all freelancers to offer clients the option to request revisions.
    • Select the number of revisions you’ll include in each package.
    • Additional revisions are recommended for Gigs involving customization or creation.
    • Prices for Gigs are set in US dollars (USD), regardless of the freelancer's local currency.
    • The starting price for a Gig can be $5, though some categories may have a higher minimum.
    • Voice-over Gigs follow different pricing structures. Learn more with Voice Over Pricing Structure video.
    • You can offer Extra Services for your Gig, which will be available to the client during the order process (optional).
    • Offering extra services allows clients to enhance their order and may increase your total earnings.
    • You have the option to offer Extra Fast Delivery and charge accordingly. When offering extra fast delivery, the delivery time you set must be shorter than the standard delivery time.

Step 3: Description & FAQ

    • Briefly describe your Gig (up to 1,200 characters), but include enough detail so clients can tell if it meets their needs.
    • You can break your project into manageable parts with Milestones. Learn how to set up your Milestones step by step in Working with milestones.
    • Add answers to common questions (limit of 10 FAQs).
    • Adding frequently asked questions can help reduce the number of direct inquiries from clients.
    • Consider including questions about delivery time, revisions, and specific features of your service.

Step 4: Requirements

    • This is where you ask clients for information you need to begin their order.
    • You can choose which information is mandatory by marking the question as Required.

Step 5: Gallery

    • To be published, Gigs must have at least one image uploaded and up to three.
    • Only use images you own, no copyrighted or internet-sourced content. Otherwise, your Gig won’t be approved. See our Gig Image Guidelines to learn more.
    • Images can be samples of your work.
    • Recommended size: 1280px x 769px (at 72 DPI).
    • Minimum size: 712px x 430px (at 72 DPI).
    • Videos are required for the Video & Animation category.
    • The video thumbnail will take priority and be displayed before any Gig images.
    • Video length: 20-60 seconds long.
    • File size: under 50 MB.
    • Ensure your video does not contain copyrighted material, whether audio, visuals, or watermarks, that you do not own.
    • For additional instructions, visit Adding a video to your Gig.
    • Upload up to two PDFs to show the work you've created in documents.
    • This field is optional.
    • Only the first 3 pages of your PDF will be displayed.

Step 6: Publish

After publishing your Gig, it will undergo an automatic review. If it doesn't meet guidelines, it will be flagged with instructions for editing and resubmission. If your Gig includes a video, the Gig may be approved automatically, but the video will stay pending until reviewed.

To edit your Gig

  1. Log in > Gigs.
  2. Find the Gig you'd like to edit > From the drop-down list on the right > Edit.
  3. Make your changes > Save.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues while creating your Gig, follow these steps to troubleshoot:

    • Ensure that you are using the latest version of the Fiverr app or browser.
    • For browser users, make sure your browser is updated to the newest version.
  • Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can often resolve common issues. Here are instructions for popular browsers:
    • Ensure that your internet connection is stable.
    • Try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular data to see if the issue persists.
  • If the Publish button is greyed out or the Gig is stuck in Draft status, ensure that all following required steps have been completed:

    • Providing a display name

    • Completing any necessary skills test
    • Submitting a W-9 form (for U.S. freelancers)
    • Completing phone verification
    • Verifying your personal & business information for compliance purposes.
    • Adding at least one mandatory image in the Gig’s Gallery
    • Disable any VPN, ad blockers, or browser extensions.
    • Use incognito mode in your browser.
    • Switch to a different browser or device.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, we recommend capturing a screenshot or video of the error and contacting Customer Support for further assistance.
