How to verify your personal and business information

At Fiverr, we require all freelancers to verify their personal or business information to maintain marketplace integrity, reduce fraud, and meet regulatory requirements such as the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). This process helps protect your account, prevents fraud, and maintains your ability to work with European Union clients. By verifying your identity, you gain access to our full range of features and can expand your business while contributing to a secure and reliable community. Even if you are already ID verified, you must clarify your status within the personal and business verification process.

Accessing the verification process

  • As a new freelancer, after creating your freelancer profile and before publishing your first Gig, you'll be required to complete the verification process.
  • If you're an existing freelancer, you can start the process by navigating to your profile image, selecting Settings > Personal & Business Info > Identity Verification, and clicking the Verify button.
Fiverr Account Settings page showing Personal information, Account security, Notifications, and Identity verification options

Choosing your status

Once you follow the steps to start the identity verification process, you'll be prompted to select how you plan to use Fiverr by choosing between two options:

  • Outside of my primary job or profession
  • As part of my primary job or profession

After making your selection, click Next to proceed.

This self-declared status will determine whether you need further verification under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) or other regulations. If you are unsure which status applies, consider consulting a legal professional.

Freelancers with an active Team Account must verify as traders in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act, and will not have the option to declare they use Fiverr outside of their primary job or profession.

Outside of my primary job or profession

This option indicates that you plan to use Fiverr as a secondary activity, separate from your main job or profession.

  1. Verify your phone number.
  2. Add a security question.

Once these steps are completed, your verification process for this status is done.

As part of my primary job or profession

This option indicates that Fiverr is a significant part of your professional work. After selecting this option, you will be asked whether your business is registered:

  • No (Individual Trader)
  • Yes, and I'm the sole employee (Sole Trader)
  • Yes, and I have at least 1 employee (Business Trader)

After your information is verified, EU consumers may have access to certain details as required by the DSA regulation. These may include your name, address, email, phone number, and business registration number (if applicable).

After making your selection, follow the steps below based on your chosen status.

If you select "No" or "Yes, and I'm the sole employee"

  1. Phone verification.
  2. Provide personal information.
  3. ID verification.

If you select "Yes, and I have at least one employee"

  1. Phone verification.
  2. Provide business information.
  3. Proof of business verification.
  4. ID verification.

Troubleshooting tips

Prepare your ID and documents in advance

  • To complete the verification process successfully, please disable any VPN during verification.
  • Having your original ID (passport, driver's license, etc.) and any business documents ready will speed up the process.
  • Confirm the ID complies with template and federal requirements and is clearly identifiable.
  • Take a photo of your original ID. Don't use a saved image, screenshot, or photo taken from another screen.
  • Make sure to upload a valid ID (not expired) that matches the available and selected type.
  • Upload a clear photo of your ID where all information is visible and easily readable.

Double-check all details

  • Make sure your name, address, and any business information exactly match your official documents. Discrepancies may lead to verification failure.
  • Enter the Business ID number and type it in the correct format, as it was assigned to your business by the local government. If you're unsure, please consult your legal consultant.
  • When filling out forms, provide your details in English, exactly as they appear on your government-issued ID. Use documents with English text when available.
  • Check out our article Business Registration Number Information by Country for detailed guidance on business registration numbers.
