Phone verification is a security measure that links the phone number to your Fiverr account. It helps enhance your account security and maintain trust within the marketplace, while meeting required security standards.
Who is it for?
- All freelancers on Fiverr must verify their phone numbers before offering services. This step is necessary for the Gig creation process.
- While it’s not required for clients, we recommend completing it to add extra protection to the account. |
Before you begin
Keep these few key points in mind to ensure the verification process goes smoothly:
- The phone number you're using is operational, valid, and reliable.
- The verification process must be initiated via a desktop/PC and cannot be completed on a mobile device.
- A phone number can be associated with only one Fiverr account.
- Ensure "Do Not Disturb" is turned off.
- Google Voice and similar VOIP services are not supported.
How to verify your phone?
Keep in mind that verification attempts are limited. You can try twice via text and once via phone, and only one phone number can be verified every 24 hours.
Follow these steps to complete phone verification on your account:
- Log in and click your Profile picture Account settings Account security.
- Under Phone verification, click Verify Now.
- Enter your phone number.
- Select your verification method:
- Verify by text: Receive a verification code via text message (SMS or WhatsApp, depending on your country).
- Insert the received verification code.
- Add a Security question to complete verification (if it wasn't added before).
How to change your verified phone number?
If you need to update your phone number:
- Log in and click your Profile picture Account settings Account security.
- Under Phone Verification, click Edit.
- Answer your Security question.
-
Provide your old phone number (you do not need to have access to that number).
If you cannot remember your security question or old phone number, please contact Customer Support.
- Enter your new number.
- Select the verification method:
- Verify by text: Receive a verification code to your new number via text message (SMS or WhatsApp, depending on your country).
-
Insert the received verification code.
After updating your phone number, you must wait 48 hours before you can withdraw your funds again.
Limitations
If you experience issues while verifying, please keep these rules and common errors in mind:
- You can only request a verification code up to 3 times within a 24-hour period. If you exceed this limit, you must wait 24 hours before trying again.
- Once requested, you must use the code within the next 10 minutes of it being sent. The code will expire after this time.
- Virtual numbers, landlines, and VoIP (Voice over IP) services are not compatible with the verification system.
- Each phone number can only be linked to one Fiverr account. If a number is already associated with another account—even if that account is disabled—it cannot be used again.
- Numbers should be entered without leading zeros, spaces, or special characters.
- SMS codes can take up to 10 minutes to arrive depending on your local carrier. Requesting a new code before this time window expires may reset the process or lead to a temporary block.

FAQs

- After initial verification, we may occasionally request that you verify your phone at different touchpoints to maintain account security.
- A unique security question is required as a backup procedure, for example, if you lose your phone or change your number. This question is our only way of recovering your account if you have verification problems. Learn more in this article.

- We offer the option to receive the verification code by call or text, so you can provide a landline phone number if you do not have a mobile number.
