Reviews and ratings are the foundation of a trusted marketplace, serving as a vital tool for both freelancers and clients. This two-way feedback system allows users to share their honest experiences, ensuring that the platform remains fair and transparent for everyone.
Overview
Reviews on Fiverr are subjective and reflect the individual experiences of both clients and freelancers. The system is designed to provide an accurate look at current platform activity while maintaining a complete history of user interactions.
This article will help clients and freelancers learn how to leave and manage reviews.
- Reviews become visible only after both parties have submitted their feedback.
-
If one party misses the review window, the submitted review will become visible automatically at the end of the period.
Both clients and freelancers have 14 days to leave a review in most categories after completing an order.
Note: For the following categories, the timeframe is 30 days:
- Programming & Tech
- Digital Marketing
- Certified
Reviews cannot be edited once they are published. Customer Support will only remove reviews that violate Fiverr’s Terms of Service or Community Standards. Please reach our Customer Support team using the Contact Us tab at the bottom of the page for further assistance.
Reviews and ratings for clients
Leaving reviews helps keep the marketplace fair and trustworthy. You can rate completed orders, share files, and provide written feedback.
We encourage you to leave honest and detailed reviews to help others make informed decisions. To keep things helpful for everyone, please feel free to elaborate while ensuring your reviews remain respectful.
When to leave a review
The option to review appears after an order is delivered and marked Completed. Once you submit a review for the order, the freelancer will have the opportunity to leave a review in return about their experience with you.
Here’s how reviews work for multiple-payment orders:
- You are prompted to review each order within a subscription, as they are standalone orders.
- You review once the final milestone is completed, or if the remaining milestones are stopped.
-
You can leave a review during an in-progress Hourly order if:
- At least four weeks of work have been completed.
- The freelancer has reported at least 10 hours of work.
Once the Hourly order is completed, you can leave a public review for the entire order.

Leaving a review
- Head to your orders section by logging in and clicking Orders from the top menu.
- Find the order you want to review, and when you open it, you'll see a banner that says Your order was completed.
- Click the Rate Experience button on the banner.
- You can attach files to your review. If you delete these files later, they cannot be restored.
You will receive a reminder on the 7th day after your order is completed to leave a review. In some categories, you will receive a reminder on the 21st day.
Rating questions
You will rate the following aspects of the completed order.
Editing a review
You have a 20-minute window to make changes immediately after submitting a review. Generally, reviews can be edited for up to 14 days or until the freelancer submits their review.
To edit a review:
- Go to your order page.
- Scroll down to the review section of your order.
-
Click Edit review and ratings.
Private feedback
24 hours after an order is marked completed, you will receive an email letting you know you can leave a private review. This feedback helps Fiverr improve the buying experience and is never shared with the freelancer or other public users.
For Hourly orders, private feedback will be requested only after the first weekly order is completed, not for every weekly order.
Reviews and ratings for freelancers
Building a positive reputation is essential for your career. Reviews from clients provide feedback on your work and give future clients an idea of what to expect.
As a freelancer, when leaving a review or comment on a review, remain respectful and professional to positively represent your business. Remember, your communication will be visible to potential clients.
How this works
You have two options to leave a review for the client, both public:
- Describe your experience with the client and the order.
- Note: The client’s review will become visible only after you submit your review or after the submission deadline has passed.
- Respond to the client’s review directly and show your point of view.
- You have unlimited time to respond to the client’s review while the relevant Gig is active.
If you do not submit a review within 14 days or 30 days for specific categories (Programming & Tech, Digital Marketing, and Certified), the client’s review will still become visible on your Gig.
How to leave a review and respond to the client’s review
- Once a client submits a review, you will receive a notification to leave your own feedback.
- Click the notification, then scroll to the bottom of the order page.
- Rate your experience and leave a comment.
- Click Send.
- The client’s review will then be available to you.
- Submit your response to the client’s review.
Note: Once your review or response is published, you can’t edit or remove it.
You can’t ask clients to modify or remove reviews. Customer Support will only remove reviews that violate Fiverr’s Terms of Service or Community Standards.
Public ratings and reviews
Public ratings will reflect your activity over the past 2 years (rather than lifetime ratings). This ensures that the most recent feedback is reflected accurately, showcasing your current performance and skills. The total number of reviews reflects your lifetime activity.
Attachments in reviews
Clients can attach files when submitting their reviews and remove files from their reviews. Once deleted, files cannot be restored. The attached files will be added to your Live Portfolio and showcased as examples of your work.

Best practices to prevent negative reviews
- Ensure you fully understand the client's needs and have all necessary requirements before starting. If instructions are unclear, ask follow-up questions immediately.
- The delivery date is part of your service agreement. If you cannot meet the deadline, request an extension before the order becomes late.
- Answer questions and requests promptly throughout the process. Responsiveness is a crucial factor in customer satisfaction.
- If the project scope changes or a misunderstanding occurs, consider offering a partial refund to resolve the issue.
- If a client is unresponsive or the requirements are unclear, consider canceling the order. Since a delivery wasn’t provided, the client won’t be able to leave feedback.
Reviews for canceled orders
To promote transparency, clients can leave reviews for canceled orders under specific eligibility conditions. If a canceled order is eligible for a review, the client will have 5 days to leave their review. After this time, the freelancer will also have the option to respond to the client's review.
-
- Order is late: More than 24 hours have passed since the delivery due date.
- Unresponsive Freelancer: No response to inquiries for more than 24 hours.
- Delivery provided: A delivery was sent before the cancellation.
- Order completion: You must have completed at least one previous order on Fiverr.
-
- First-time orders: If this was your first purchase on Fiverr.
- Freelancer accounts: If you also have an active freelancer account.
- Chargebacks: Orders canceled via chargeback.
Fiverr may remove the option to leave a review for canceled orders if any violations of our Terms of Service or Community Standards are found. Please reach our Customer Support team using the Contact Us tab at the bottom of the page for further assistance.
FAQs
- Both clients and freelancers have up to 14 days to provide a review. For orders in certain categories, the timeframe to leave a review and rating is 30 days from order completion. After this time frame, there will no longer be an option to provide a review.
- If the order is still in an active status (In Progress, In revision, Late, or Very Late), the option to add a review is not given yet. This option only appears after delivery when the order is marked completed.
- To ensure the reliability of our rating system, reviews cannot be edited once published. However, as a client, you can edit your review within the 14-day window or until the freelancer submits their review.
- Customer Support will only remove reviews that violate Fiverr’s Terms of Service and Community Standards. For more assistance, please reach out to our Customer Support team using the Contact Us tab at the bottom of the page.
- Customer Support may remove a review that violates our Terms of Service. For more information, please reach out to our Customer Support team using the 'Contact us' tab at the bottom of the page.
- Reviews usually become visible on the platform only after both the client and the freelancer have submitted their feedback. However, if a freelancer does not submit a review within the 14-day period, the client’s review will still become visible on their Gig once the review period ends.
- It is not always possible to satisfy all clients. In these cases, it is better to cancel the order by mutual agreement. This can actually be a positive experience for the client, as they might appreciate your level of service and willingness to work with them. Even if some of your customers are dissatisfied, it will not significantly affect your ratings if most of your clients are satisfied. Feedback is important, so be sure to collect it and use it to improve your business.
- Only eligible canceled orders can be reviewed. Orders missing requirements or made by mistake (for example, if a client doesn’t understand the service), in most cases, don’t include delivery and thus aren’t eligible for a review. We recommend you set expectations right from the start, which means before the order or right when the order was placed, to make sure you have what is needed or that the service that was ordered is what the client is looking for.
- No, the freelancer cannot leave a review for the client. However, the freelancer will also have the option to respond to the client's review on a canceled order.
- To create transparency, the review will be indicated as related to a canceled order with a relevant tag.
- 24 hours after an order is marked completed, clients can leave a private review. This feedback helps Fiverr improve the buying experience and is never shared with or visible to other clients or freelancers.
- Yes, clients can attach files when submitting their reviews. Clients can also remove these files later, but once they are deleted, they cannot be restored.
