Leaving and managing reviews on Fiverr

Reviews and ratings are the foundation of a trusted marketplace. They give clients confidence when choosing a freelancer, and help freelancers showcase their work and build a strong reputation. Fiverr uses a two-way feedback system: both the client and the freelancer can leave a review after an order is completed. Reviews are visible to the public only after both parties submit their feedback, or once the review window closes.

Types of reviews

The review system has two types of reviews:

  • Public review: A star rating plus written feedback that appears on the freelancer's Gig page and profile page, and on the client's profile page.
  • Private review: An anonymous satisfaction rating submitted by the client. This review is not shared with the freelancer and is used by Fiverr for internal quality measurement only.

Public ratings on a freelancer's profile reflect activity over the past two years, so they always show current performance rather than a lifetime average.

Before you begin

  • You can only leave a review on a completed or eligible canceled order.
  • The client must submit a public review first — this enables the freelancer to leave their own review.
  • All reviews must come from legitimate purchases made through Fiverr. Reviews from accounts used to artificially boost ratings will result in permanent suspension. Learn more in Fiverr reviews: Content guidelines and removal policy.

How to leave a review

  • As a client, after your order is marked as completed, you will be taken to the public rating page automatically.

    1. Rate the order on three questions:

        • How would you rate the quality of this delivery?

        • How was it working with the freelancer?

        • How would you rate the value for money of this service?

    2. After selecting a star rating, choose the checkboxes that best describe your experience.

    3. Write a review (minimum 10 characters). You can also approve attaching files from the order at this step. The attached file will be added to the freelancer's Live Portfolio and showcased as examples of your work.

    4. Optionally add a tip for the freelancer.

    5. Click Submit.

  • Once a client submits their public review, as a freelancer you will receive a notification. You then have 14 days (or 30 days in certain categories — see Review Windows below) to leave your own review.

    1. Click the notification you receive after the client submits their review.

    2. Go to your order page and scroll to the bottom.

    3. Rate your experience and leave a comment.

    4. Click Send.

    5. Once you submit your review, you can see the client's review and respond publicly.

You cannot see the client's review until after you submit your own, or until the review window closes.

Highlighted reviews are short snippets of positive feedback shown on a Gig page. They are selected automatically from recent reviews. Freelancers with a Seller Plus membership can also manually select up to five reviews to highlight.

Please note that Fiverr reserves the right to restrict review capabilities if there is evidence of Terms of Service or Community Standards breaches. If you require further help, our Customer Support team is available via the Contact Us button below.

How long can I leave a review?

  • Both clients and freelancers have 14 days after an order is completed to submit their public review in most categories.

The following categories have a 30-day review window:

        • Programming & Tech

        • Digital Marketing — SEO, SEM, Local SEO, Video Marketing, and E-Commerce Marketing subcategories

Once the window closes, no new reviews can be added to the order.

  • Clients can submit a private review within 60 days of an order being completed. The private review option appears 24 hours after the order is marked completed. If you skip it, the option will no longer be available.

Editing a review

  • Clients can edit their public review from the moment they submit it until it becomes live on Fiverr (i.e., until the freelancer submits their own review, or the review window closes).

    To edit your review:

    1. Go to your order page.
    2. Scroll down to the review section.
    3. Click Edit review and ratings, make your changes, and save.

To give you time to make edits, Fiverr delays the notification asking freelancers to submit their review by 20 minutes. This means you have at least 20 minutes after submitting your review to make changes.

  • Freelancers cannot edit their public review once it has been submitted.

Once both reviews are live, neither party can make further edits.

Responding to a review

After both public reviews are published, freelancers can respond to the client's review from their order page. The response appears publicly on the Gig page.

  • There is no time limit for adding a response, as long as the Gig is active.
  • If you miss the review window entirely and cannot leave a review, you can still respond to the client's review.
  • Once published, a response cannot be edited or removed.

Reviews for multi-payment and hourly orders

  • For Subscription orders, each order within a subscription is standalone. You are prompted to leave a review for each individual order within the subscription.
  • For Milestone orders, you leave a review once the final Milestone is completed, or if the remaining Milestones are stopped.
  • For Hourly orders, you can leave a review once the contract is completed. For ongoing weekly orders within a contract, a private review is requested after the first completed weekly order only, not for every weekly order.

Reviews for canceled orders

To maintain a transparent marketplace, clients may leave feedback for orders that were canceled, provided they meet specific criteria. When eligible, clients have a 5-day window to submit their review. After the client provides feedback, the freelancer can share a public response.

  • Reviews on canceled orders are available in these eligible scenarios:

Late delivery: the project is overdue by at least 24 hours.

Lack of communication: the freelancer has not replied to messages for more than 24 hours.

Delivery sent: files were submitted through the system prior to the cancelation request.

Account history: the client has successfully completed one or more previous purchases on the platform.

  • Reviews on canceled orders are excluded in the following scenarios:

New users: the transaction was the client's first order on Fiverr.

Freelancer profiles: the client also maintains an active freelancer account.

Payment disputes: the order was reversed due to a chargeback.

  • Reviews on canceled orders are excluded in the following scenarios:

        • New users: the transaction was the client's first order on Fiverr.

        • Freelancer profiles: the client also maintains an active freelancer account.

        • Payment disputes: the order was reversed due to a chargeback.

  • FAQs

    • Customer Support will only remove reviews following the Fiverr reviews removal policy. You cannot ask another user to remove their review, and you cannot remove your own review once it has been published. If an account is deleted, its reviews are anonymized rather than removed.
    • Once a review is published, it can no longer be edited to ensure the integrity of the rating system. However, clients do have the flexibility to make changes to their feedback within the 14-day review window, provided the freelancer has not yet submitted their own review.
    • Clients may see an option to generate a review draft using AI. This feature uses information from the order and communication to create a starting point. You can edit the AI-generated draft or write your own review from scratch before publishing.
    • The option to leave a review is only available once an order is officially marked as completed. If your order is currently in an active status such as In Progress, In Revision, Late, or Very Late, the review feature is not yet enabled and will only appear after delivery.
    • Reviews are generally only possible on orders where a delivery has taken place. In cases where a client purchases the wrong service, fails to provide necessary requirements, or makes an error in ordering, there is typically no delivery, making the order ineligible for review. To prevent these situations, we suggest establishing clear expectations immediately -either before the purchase or as soon as it is made -to confirm that the client's needs align with your specific expertise and available services.
    • While meeting every client's expectations is not always achievable, resolving issues through a mutual cancelation can preserve a positive professional relationship. Clients can leave reviews on eligible canceled orders, so maintaining open communication and professionalism throughout the cancelation process is especially important. Many clients value a freelancer's dedication and transparency during this process. Maintaining a high overall satisfaction rate across your portfolio ensures that occasional disputes will not heavily impact your standing. We encourage you to view all feedback as a valuable tool for refining your service and growing your freelance business.
    • Freelancers do not have the ability to submit a review for the client in this scenario. They do, however, retain the right to provide a public response to any feedback the client leaves regarding the cancelation.
    • To maintain a transparent marketplace, any feedback left for an order that was canceled will be clearly marked with a specific label identifying it as such.
