Creating & editing your freelancer profile

Your profile is how you showcase your expertise and professional appearance to the community. By providing a complete and authentic profile, you enhance your visibility and build trust with potential clients, establishing a reliable and professional presence on our platform.

How to initiate the process?

Profile creation and editing are currently only supported on desktop platforms and web mobile devices. App (Android and iOS) do not support these functions.

How to create your freelancer profile?

Add experience manually

• Your display name will be visible to all clients. We recommend you use your first name and the first letter of your last name. Using your real name or a consistent professional identity helps buyers feel confident they are working with a genuine freelancer which supports a safer, more trustworthy marketplace. If you need to edit your display name, or want inspiration, find additional information in managing your display name.

• Your profile picture is essential in helping you attract clients and build trust. A great profile picture establishes a sense of trust even before a project begins.

  Choose a clear, recent photo that represents you honestly (or your company logo, if relevant) so clients can recognize you easily and feel reassured of your authenticity.

  Note: You may also use an image generated with AI tools, as long as it fully meets all the criteria listed below and reflects you or your service accurately.

  Selecting your profile picture

  • Add an image: If the photo is of yourself, show yourself clearly and face the front. Your image can also be your company's logo, or an image that represents your service. Make sure you own the picture you upload.
  • Professional quality: Use a high-resolution image that is well-lit and clear, with you looking approachable.
  • Background: Keep the background simple and uncluttered so the focus stays on you.
  • Consistency across platforms: Consider using the same profile picture you use on other professional platforms (like LinkedIn or a personal website).
  • Tip: Smile or maintain a pleasant expression to appear friendly and approachable

  Don't add an image of someone else, a celebrity, a GIF, or an image that misrepresents your service.

• Stand out with a short tagline that describes what you do. Avoid using any descriptive words (like “expert”, “best” or “Fiverr”) in your Title. Keep your title truthful and aligned with the services you offer. Realistic, accurate titles help clients find the right freelancer and support a fair and transparent marketplace experience.

• Your location is set when you register your account and is determined according to the country from where you register. Your country is displayed on your profile for transparency, which helps users understand differences in language and time zones. Fiverr also uses this information to comply with local regulations, such as tax requirements.

  If your account location is incorrect, you will need to contact Customer Support to request a change. You will be required to provide proof of residency which must include your name and current address.

  We accept the following documents as proof of residency:

  • Utility bills
  • Telephone bills
  • Rental agreements

  If you are an ID-verified freelancer, the name on your proof of residency must match the name on the ID you used for verification.

  We do not accept the following documents as proof of residency:

  • Government-issued IDs (e.g., passports, national IDs, driver's licenses)
  • Residency or student visa permits
  • Tax returns
• Highlight your language skills to make your freelancer profile stand out and communicate with a wider audience! List all the languages you can work in and include your proficiency level for each.

• The About section gives you the chance to introduce yourself to potential clients. Clients rely on the About section to better understand you as a professional! Titles should be accurate, authentic and aligned with Fiverr's policies to help protect yourself and your clients.

  Writing about you

  • Be honest and accurately represent yourself and your experiences.
  • Be clear and write in English without grammatical errors.
  • Be original!
  • Do not include contact information including payment information and personal phone numbers or emails. company names, or URLs.
  • Do not offer services that infringe on Fiverr TOS or 3rd parties TOS. Learn more about our community standards and prohibited services.

  Note: Ensure you add a space after the last period of each sentence or this section will not save properly. For instance, “example. example”.

• Add specific skills and areas of expertise to your profile to help ensure the right clients find you. List all your skills and include your experience level. Include the software, tools, and techniques you use, as well as areas of expertise you specialize in. Describing your skills and experience honestly helps set a client’s expectations, builds long-term trust, and prevents misunderstanding or disputes later on.
• Add your job history and achievements to give clients insights into your expertise.
• Showcase your skills and qualifications by adding any degrees you’ve earned and the institutions where you studied.
• Showcase your mastery with certifications earned in your field.

Finishing your profile

Once you're done, click Continue to create your freelancer profile. You will be asked if you work as an individual or team and you have the option to add personal website links, which will not be shared with other users.

You will then be navigated to your freelancer dashboard. To make your profile visible to clients, just complete the New freelancer onboarding tasks on your dashboard. This helps you get set up for success and ready to start working.

If you leave the page during the profile creation process, your progress will be saved.

Tip: Stand out to potential clients and add a Fiverr intro video.

Editing your profile

To edit your existing freelancer profile, go to your dashboard and click “View profile.” Locate the current field you wish to edit then click the pencil to edit the information. Make sure you click save to keep the changes made.

FAQs

• Ensure you complete all onboarding tasks located on your freelancer dashboard to become visible to clients.
• Your display name should be written in English without special characters other than period or apostrophe and reflect your real name or the name of your business. Keep it true to who you are and avoid using someone else’s name or choosing a name that doesn’t relate to your identity. There’s no need to include your services, profession, or any descriptive words (like “expert” or “best”) in your display name. You can highlight those details in your Title instead. Also, please don’t reference Fiverr levels in your display name.
• Profile pictures must be unique and original photographs that represent you or the service you offer! Profile pictures should not be of another person, of a celebrity, be a GIF, or it should not misrepresent the service that you provide.
