Freelancer Referral Program

The freelancer referral program lets you recommend trusted freelancers directly to your clients in an inbox conversation. Whether you can't take on a project, don't offer a specific service, or simply know the perfect person for the job, referring another freelancer helps your client move forward while strengthening your relationship with them.

Before you begin

  • You must be a Level 1, Level 2, Top Rated, or Pro freelancer to use this feature. If you are demoted below Level 1, you lose access to the program.
  • The freelancer you refer must also be Level 1 or above, or Pro.
  • You can only refer a specific freelancer to a specific client once.
  • Each referral message can include up to three freelancers.

How to send a referral

  • In any inbox conversation, click the Refer a freelancer icon to open the referral tool.

  • For each freelancer you want to refer, do one of the following:

    • Paste their Fiverr username (without the @) or the URL to their profile or a specific Gig.
    • Click Get suggestions to browse Fiverr's recommendations: freelancers offering related services, similar freelancers, or your previous referrals.
    • Click Search on Fiverr to find someone new.
Adding a freelancer to a referral

Once you've added a freelancer, you'll see a preview of their profile. Write a short explanation of why they're a good fit for the client (10 to 500 characters, required).

To add more freelancers, click + Add another referral and repeat this step. You can include up to three freelancers per referral message.

If you see an error when adding a freelancer, check the following:

    • Ineligible freelancer: the person you're referring, doesn't meet the level requirements.
    • Invalid URL: the link is not a valid Fiverr username or Gig link.
    • Self-referral: you tried to refer yourself.
    • Already referred this freelancer: you've already referred this person to this client.
  • Add an intro message to guide your client (10 to 2,000 characters required). This message appears above the freelancer cards in the conversation.
  • Click Send to client to deliver the referral message. Your client will see the freelancer cards in the conversation and can click each one to view their full profile. If they choose to contact a referred freelancer, a note with your name appears at the top of that new conversation for up to 60 days.

Track your referrals

Go to Growth & Marketing > Referrals to view your Referrals page.

Under "Referrals I've given":

  • Total referrals given: total number of referrals you've shared with clients.
  • Orders created: number of orders placed with your referrals.
  • Orders completed: number of orders completed by your referrals.
  • Fiverr Credits received: total credits earned from completed referral orders.

Under "Referrals I've received":

  • Freelancers who referred me: number of freelancers who referred you to clients.
  • Total referrals received: number of referrals you've received.
  • Orders I've completed: number of orders you've completed through others' referrals.

Earn Fiverr Credits

When a client completes an order with a freelancer you referred, you earn Fiverr Credits equal to 2.5% of the order's total value, excluding tips, taxes, and fees. There is no cap on the amount you can earn.

Example: If the referred freelancer completes a $150 USD order, you receive $3.75 USD in Fiverr Credits (2.5% of $150 USD).

A few rules to keep in mind:

  • The order must be completed within 60 days of your referral.
  • You only earn credits for the first completed order between the referred freelancer and that client.
  • You can only refer a specific freelancer to a specific client once.
  • If multiple freelancers refer the same freelancer to the same client, all of them earn credits if the client completes an order.
  • Credits are valid for 90 days from the date they are issued.
  • Credits cannot be withdrawn or refunded, but they can be used toward Fiverr orders and freelancer programs: Fiverr Ads and Seller Plus.

Best practices

  1. Refer freelancers whose skills directly match your client's next step. A relevant, targeted referral is far more useful than a general one.
  2. Write a specific, personalized reason for each referral. The more context you give, the more likely the client is to follow through.
  3. Refer freelancers proactively, even when your client hasn't asked. It demonstrates commitment to their project's success.
  4. Check your Referrals page regularly to see which referrals are converting and who is referring you in return.

  • You won't earn credits from that referral, but it still counts toward your total referrals given and your badge progress.

  • The freelancer referral program is for recommending active Fiverr freelancers to your existing clients. Fiverr's referral program is for inviting new people to join Fiverr as clients; it offers a discount on their first order and credits based on that order's value.
