Creating and optimizing your Fiverr Pro Gig

Your Fiverr Pro Gig is how you showcase your skills and help potential clients decide if you're the right fit for their project. As a Pro freelancer, your Gig is reviewed by Fiverr's Pro team before it appears in the marketplace, so taking the time to set it up properly pays off.

This article covers how to create a new Pro Gig, convert an existing Gig, expand into new categories, and make the best possible impression on clients.

What is a Pro Gig?

A Gig is the service listing you offer on Fiverr. Your Pro status means your Gig carries the Pro badge, which signals quality and credibility to clients. Before your Gig goes live, the Pro team reviews it and may approve it or send feedback requesting changes. You can resubmit your Gig after making the requested updates.

Key things to know:

  • You can only create Pro Gigs in subcategories where you are approved.
  • When you are accepted to Pro, you receive an email with a Gig creation checklist to help you get started.
  • If your Gig is priced below $100, it will not display the "Pro Vetted" badge.

Creating a new Pro Gig

Before you get started, make sure that you have the following:

  • You must have an active Pro badge on your account.
  • You can only list Pro Gigs in subcategories where you have been approved. Approved subcategories are marked with a Pro badge during Gig setup.
  • To sell in a new category, you must submit a Pro Expansion application. See "Expanding to new Pro categories" below.
  •
    1. Log in to Fiverr.
    2. From the Selling menu, click My Business and select Gigs.
    3. Click Create a new Gig. Subcategories with Pro approval are marked with a Pro badge next to the category name.
  • Gig title: Write a title of up to 80 characters. Include relevant keywords for your service. Make it short, clear, and concise.

Tip: Keep the title under 50 characters so it doesn't get cut off on the Gig card.

Category: Select the subcategory in which you are approved. Only approved subcategories are available for Pro Gigs.

Service type: Choose a service type to ensure you appear in the search results related to the category you selected.

Note: This feature is only available for specific categories.

Metadata: In the Metadata section, select the relevant criteria for each topic.

Note: This feature is only available for specific categories.

Search tags: Add at least one word or phrase that best describes your Gig.

Tip: Three to four accurate tags are recommended to keep your Gig professional and discoverable.

  • First, you set up your packages. We recommend creating three packages: Basic, Standard, and Premium. These package tiers let you offer different levels of service to suit a range of clients. For each package:

    • Set a clear price.
    • Specify the delivery time.
    • Define what's included (revisions, deliverables, etc.).

Note: If your Gig is priced below $100, the "Pro Vetted" badge will not appear. Custom offers can go as high as $50,000.

  • Description: Make it as informative as possible. Describe exactly what you offer and what you don't offer. Use simple, clear language. Invite clients to contact you before placing an order, and add any specific requirements or instructions. A strong description helps reduce cancellations and unnecessary questions.

FAQ: Add answers to common questions about your service. FAQs increase conversion and help clients make confident decisions.

  • List what you need from the client to get started. Clear requirements help you deliver on time and reduce unnecessary back-and-forth.
  • Upload images and, optionally, a video. Use the gallery to give clients a strong first impression of your work and style. See the Best practices section below for tips.
  • Submit your Gig for review. The Pro team member will review it and contact you by email:
    • Approved: The Pro team adds the badge and banner to your Gig, and it goes live in the marketplace.
    • Needs changes: The Pro team sends notes on what to fix. Make the changes and resubmit.

Converting an existing Gig to Pro

If you already have active Gigs on your account in the marketplace, you can request to convert them to Pro, as long as you're approved for Pro in the same subcategory.

After your Pro approval, you receive an email with a link to the Gig conversion form. To convert a Gig:

  1. Open the Gig conversion form from the link in your onboarding email.
  2. Submit a request for each Gig you want to convert.
  3. Wait for the Pro team's email response.

Note: You must submit the form separately for each Gig you want to convert. There is no limit on the number of requests you can submit at the same time.

Expanding to new Pro categories

To offer Pro services in a category you haven't been approved for yet, you need to submit a new application.

  1. Open the Pro expansion form from the link in your onboarding email.
  2. Submit your application, including portfolio samples and any other required materials.
  3. Wait for the Pro team's email response.

Each new category requires its own separate application. If your application was previously rejected for a category, you must wait 6 months before reapplying for that same category. For a category you haven't applied for before, you can submit an application at any time.

Best practices for making a good impression

On Fiverr, first impressions matter. Here are the best practices to make your Pro Gig stand out.

  • Good images are crucial for getting clients to click on your Gig and place an order:

    • Use high-resolution, sharp, and clear images. Avoid blurry, pixelated, or stretched images.
    • Recommended size: 1280 × 769 px. Minimum: 712 × 430 px. Maximum: 4000 × 2416 px at 72 DPI.
    • Use only images you have permission to use.
    • Don't overcrowd your gallery. Less is more.
    • Avoid too much text on an image: clients should be able to read it at thumbnail size.
    • Use a different image for each Gig if you have more than one.
    • Make sure your images directly relate to the service you offer. Random images can damage a Gig's reputation and lower the Editorial pick possibility.

  • Videos help you explain your service in a personal, engaging way:

    • Keep it short and to the point.
    • Include a clear description of what you offer.
    • Add music or a voiceover to increase engagement.
    • Use your own voice: don't narrate with a computer voice.
    • Upload a high-quality video with no audio/video sync issues.
    • Never include personal contact information.
    • Maximum size: 50 MB. Supported formats: MP4 or AVI.
    • You can set a custom thumbnail frame for your video.

For more information, see Adding a video to your Gig.

  • Give clients the opportunity to see your work with reviews and files so they can evaluate your output before ordering.

For more information, see Using your Fiverr portfolio.

  • Use Gig extras to offer complementary services and give clients a more complete offering.

Category-specific tips

    • Set your delivery time to give yourself enough time to complete the work.
    • Use a video of yourself explaining the service to build client confidence.
    • Show only one certification badge in your main image.
    • Use the PDF section to build brochures about your service.

    • Upload a video with sound for each Gig.
    • Use the Set Thumbnail option to choose a still image for your Gig card from the video.
    • Only use vertical videos for the Short Video Ads category.
    • Use illustrations that are iconic and elemental rather than detailed or cartoon-style.
    • Avoid using a website screenshot as the main Gig image: details are lost on the Gig card.

    • To list client websites, create a section in the description titled "Client Work Examples": do not use "www."
