Understanding your order's status helps you keep track of where a project stands, from the moment it's placed until it's officially completed. By checking the status through the order page, you can ensure timely delivery and clear communication with your freelancer.
Order process overview
After you place an order, you need to submit the requirements to the freelancer. Once you submit the requirements, the order process starts, and the freelancer is expected to deliver the work within the specified timeframe.
Once the freelancer delivers, review the delivery and accept it to complete the order. If you have feedback and require changes, you can reject the delivery and request revisions. The freelancer will then re-deliver the revised work.
Before an order is delivered
Before the freelancer sends their first delivery, your order will have one of two statuses:
-
To begin your order, submit the necessary requirements. You'll see an orange banner on the order page prompting you to reply. The status will show Requirements Needed until you submit.
Note: If the freelancer already has enough information to get started, they can skip the requirements step. The status will then move to In Progress automatically.
- Once you provide the requirements, the order moves to In Progress status. The freelancer is expected to deliver within the specified timeframe, which is visible on the order page.
Order Timeline
Some freelancers use Order Timeline to share a step-by-step plan of their work directly on the order page. When your freelancer sets up a timeline, you can see exactly where the project stands at any point during the order.
Note: Order Timeline is currently available to a portion of freelancers as part of a beta test. Whether you see it depends on your freelancer's account.
What you'll see
If your freelancer has set up an Order Timeline, you'll find it in two places on the order page:
- The timeline section on the right side of the order page, showing all steps and their target dates at a glance.
- The Activity tab, where each step appears as it's created or updated.
Each step has a title, description, and target date. As the freelancer progresses through their work, they mark steps as done. The timeline gives you real-time visibility into what's been completed and what's coming next.
If a step is delayed
If a step passes its target date without being marked as done, it will be flagged as delayed. You can click Ask for an update next to the delayed step to request a progress update from your freelancer.
Mobile
Order Timeline is view-only on the Fiverr mobile app. You can see the steps but cannot interact with them from mobile.
Reviewing a draft
Before the freelancer sends their final delivery, they may share a draft, a work-in-progress preview that gives you an early look at the project. This is an opportunity to provide feedback and make sure you're both aligned before the final submission.
When a freelancer shares a draft, you'll receive a notification and an email. Click View Draft in the email to go directly to the draft.
You can reply to the draft from the order page or your inbox. Clicking Reply from the order page will take you to your inbox. A message will clearly indicate that what you're viewing is a draft, not the final delivery.
Tip: Drafts don't change the order status. Files and images shared as a draft are protected with a Fiverr watermark.
After an order has been delivered
Once the freelancer submits their work, the order status updates to Delivered. Their submission is now ready for your review. You have three days to take one of the following actions:
- Accept the delivery
- Request revisions
- Extend the review timeframe
Note: If no action is taken within three days of delivery, the system will automatically complete the order. For Gigs that require shipping, auto-completion takes 14 days.
Accepting the delivery
- Log in and click Orders.
- Click on the order title to open the order page.
- Go to the Delivery tab or scroll down to find the delivery message.
- Answer the question: Are you pleased with the delivery, and are you ready to accept it?
- Click Yes to approve the final delivery.
- Click No, I'm not ready yet if you need a revision or more time to review.
Requesting revisions
If you're not satisfied with the delivery, click No, I'm not ready yet on the order page. The order status will change to In Revision, indicating you've rejected the delivery and the freelancer needs to resubmit based on your feedback.
Once the freelancer resubmits, the status will change from In Revision back to In Progress, and you'll receive a new delivery to review.
Tip: Communicate the changes you need as clearly as possible. This helps the freelancer understand exactly what's required and deliver a version that meets your expectations.
Extending the review timeframe
If you need more time to review the delivery, click No, I'm not ready yet and select I need more time to review. You can extend the review period by up to 5 days. The order will remain in Delivered status, and the freelancer won't need to re-deliver. This is not a revision request.
You can extend the review period more than once. If the delivery isn't accepted, rejected, or extended further, the system will automatically complete the order once the updated timeframe ends.
Orders requiring attention
If an order runs into issues or a dispute, it will be reflected in the order status. The Fiverr Resolution Center is designed to help you address and resolve disputes independently.
- The Resolution Center was used to request one of the following: a mutual cancellation, a delivery date extension (submitted by the freelancer), or an update request (submitted by you).
- The freelancer missed the expected delivery time. You are entitled to cancel your order if there's no further response from the freelancer.
- 24 hours have passed since the order was marked as Late. You can cancel the order immediately through the Resolution Center.

A completed order
An order is marked as Complete once the freelancer delivers the work and you accept it. If no action is taken within three days of delivery, the system will automatically complete the order. Once an order is completed, its status cannot be changed or canceled via the Resolution Center.
After accepting the delivery, you can also:
- Leave a review for the freelancer and the work they did. Learn more with Leaving and managing reviews on Fiverr.
- Leave a tip as a gesture of appreciation. Visit How do I tip my freelancer? article to learn more.

Extracting delivered files
Delivered files are packaged in a .zip file, which consolidates all deliverables into a single organized folder.
Note: Some mobile devices can't open .zip files. Please use a computer to unzip them.
-
- Open the folder where you downloaded the .zip file (typically your Downloads folder).
- Double-click the .zip file. It will automatically decompress into the same folder.
-
- Open the folder where you downloaded the .zip file (usually your Downloads folder).
- Right-click the .zip file.
- From the menu, select Extract all.
- Select a destination folder and click Extract.
Best practices
- Review your delivery promptly. The order auto-completes three days after delivery if no action is taken.
- Use the draft feature to align with your freelancer early, and share feedback before the final delivery to avoid unnecessary revisions.
- Be specific when requesting revisions. Clear, detailed feedback helps the freelancer deliver exactly what you need.
- Extend the review period if you need more time, rather than letting the order auto-complete.
- Communicate through the order page to keep a clear record of all discussions and deliveries.
FAQs
- The system will automatically complete the order three days after delivery. For Gigs that require shipping, auto-completion takes 14 days.
- If a step has passed its target date, you'll see it flagged as delayed on the order page. Click Ask for an update next to the delayed step to request a progress update from your freelancer.
- No. Once an order is marked as Complete, its status cannot be changed or canceled via the Resolution Center.
- A draft is a work-in-progress preview shared by the freelancer before the final delivery. It gives you an early look at the project so you can provide feedback. Drafts don't affect the order status or the freelancer's stats.
- Extending the review period gives you more time to evaluate the existing delivery without requiring the freelancer to resubmit. Requesting a revision rejects the current delivery and asks the freelancer to make changes and re-deliver.
- A Dispute status means the Resolution Center was used, either for a mutual cancellation request, a delivery date extension request from the freelancer, or an update request from you.
- If your order is Late, you're entitled to cancel if there's no further response from the freelancer. If it's Very Late (24+ hours past Late), you can cancel immediately through the Resolution Center.
