How do I tip my freelancer?

Tipping is a great way to show appreciation for a job well done. On Fiverr, clients can easily leave a tip for their freelancer after completing an order.

When can I leave a tip?

  • You can tip your freelancer once the order is marked as Complete.
    The “Tip Now” option appears:
After leaving a review on the web.
  • Immediately after order completion on the Fiverr app (no review required)
  • For Hourly orders, the tip option becomes available once the contract is completed and a review is added.

The tipping window is open for 30 days after the order is marked as complete.

How much can I tip?

  • Minimum tip: $5
  • Tip limits based on order value:
For orders below $25 → Tip up to $25
For orders $25 or more → Tip up to 100% of the order value

How does payment work?

  • When you click “Tip Now”, funds will first be deducted from your Fiverr Balance.
  • If your balance is insufficient, a payment window will open, allowing you to complete the transaction using an alternative method.
  • Tips are charged with Fiverr’s standard service fee.

FAQs

  • Just like regular payments, tips follow the 14-day clearance period before being available in the freelancer’s account.

Tips will appear as a separate line on the Revenue page and generate separate invoices, as they are counted as distinct transactions.

  • If you're unable to leave a tip, check the following:
    • The order must be marked as Complete.
    • On desktop/web, you must leave a review first before tipping.
    • The 30-day tipping window may have passed.
  • If more than 30 days have passed since your order was completed, the Tip Now option will no longer be available. However, you can still show appreciation by:

    • Contact your freelancer via the inbox.
    • Ask them to create a Custom Offer for a new order in the amount you'd like to tip.

If you proceed this way, be sure to mention clearly in the new order that the payment is intended as a tip for a previous project. This ensures transparency and helps avoid disputes if the order is reviewed.
