Fiverr now offers a streamlined way for clients to connect with freelancers and for freelancers to approve and manage Gig orders more efficiently through the Request to Order option.
About the request to order option
Note: This feature is exclusive to Seller Plus Premium members only.
We’ve updated the way the order process works and are giving freelancers more control over which Gig orders they choose to take on.
Seller Plus Premium members can look forward to:
- Feeling empowered and in control of your projects
- Fewer cancellations, better communication, and a chance to brief before you start
- More flexibility with your schedule and discussing the Gig start date in advance
Instead of automatically accepting orders as soon as clients place the order, the Request to order option gives you the ability to choose:
- Review clients' needs in advance, make sure their project requirements are clear, and that their selected Gig package is correct.
- Since it’s harder to meet deadlines when you receive orders during hours that you're unavailable (like at night), this feature helps you meet your deadlines and gives you the ability to discuss the Gig’s start date with the client, in advance.
How it works
The 'Request to order' feature is focused on optimizing your order and alignment before taking on the project or service.
Note: Currently, the feature gives you more control over the number of orders clients place without contacting the freelancer first. However, some clients might be able to set orders without a request (i.e., if they already received a custom offer, etc.).
Activate the feature
Make sure to activate the 'Request to order' feature only when a conversation is needed.
- In 'Advanced Settings', the order settings section contains the "Request to order" option. Select it to turn it on.
- Turn on this option for either 'First-time clients' or 'All clients.'
- Select which package/s you want clients (customers) to request to order.
Pick the specific day/s and hour/s you want the 'Request to order' option to be activated.
Note: Your selections will reflect your current time zone.
If you would like to set it during the night time only:
- Set two separate morning and evening time periods.
For example: Wednesday 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM - 12:00 AM.
- Set two separate morning and evening time periods.
- Once activated, clients will only be able to submit requests if they meet the specific criteria you chose.
For example: If you choose to turn it on for First-time customers only, who want the Premium Package, and who are searching for orders on Sunday, as soon as it’s Monday they won't see the Request to order option.
Note: Requests will affect your response rate metric, so it’s important to answer all requests.
Helpful tips
When to use the “Request to order” feature:
- Turn on the feature only for Gigs that require the client to contact you before ordering.
If you limit clients’ ability to order on the spot you might also lower the number of incoming Gig orders you receive. Make sure to only turn the Request to order option on when necessary. - Respond quickly to clients before they reach out to another freelancer.
It’s important to respond quickly when you get a request since this client most likely wants to set an order right away (as opposed to exploring or asking questions).
Remember, clients expect a quick response, so it might hurt your response time metric, which is crucial for your success. - Set your Gig as “not available” if you’re unavailable for more than a day.
In order to secure your 'Response Time' metric, it’s best to set your Gig as “not available during these days”, if you’re unavailable to accept and complete orders at that time.

- Your cancellation rate won’t be affected by declined requests, however, visits to your Gig page that don't convert into orders might impact your metrics negatively. Make sure to respond as fast as possible to requests, and decline a project only if it's irrelevant to you.
