Let's review everything you need to know about the different account types, how to create a client account, and how to activate your freelancer account.

Types of accounts

Before we dive into the exact steps to create or activate your account, remember that all Fiverr accounts are client (buyer) accounts by default.

A client account only becomes a freelancer account if the client decides to offer services on Fiverr.

  • Clients have the ability to purchase orders (Gigs) from freelancers on the Fiverr platform.
  • Freelancers have the ability to offer their services through Gigs to clients on the Fiverr platform.
  • Fiverr allows you to create a client account, a freelancer account, or a client and freelancer account. However, you can also have a separate Fiverr Pro account.

This type of account allows you to get all your freelance work organized in one central place with enhanced capabilities, at no additional cost.

Note: Fiverr Pro accounts are for ordering only, and cannot be converted to a freelancer account. You may only have one freelancer account on Fiverr.

Learn more about how to create a Fiverr Pro (client only) account with Fiverr Pro: Creating your account.
  • Before you can create and sell Gigs on Fiverr, you’ll be required to create a freelancer account.

    • Activating your freelancer account is only available through your desktop
    • Creating your Gig is only available through your desktop
    • All freelancers are reviewed during the sign-up and Gig creation process, and are also subject to approval by Fiverr. Learn more with our Terms of Service.

Activating your freelancer account

Before you activate your freelancer account, make sure that the e-mail of your Fiverr account is correct and that it is the one you want to use as a freelancer on Fiverr.

If it is not correct or if you wish to use a different email to sell on Fiverr, you can change your email or Contact Support for assistance.

  1. Log in to your Fiverr account, click on your profile picture, then select 'Become a Seller' from the dropdown menu.
  2. On the page you are redirected to, click on Become a Seller again to start the onboarding process.

    • This includes watching three videos on how to use Fiverr as a seller.
  3. Once you're done watching the videos, you will be directed to Fiverr's tips on what makes a successful Fiverr profile and what to steer clear of as a freelancer. After, click "Continue."
  4. Complete the mandatory fields (marked with an asterisk). Be sure to complete your onboarding using only truthful and accurate information regarding your training, working experience, and skills.

Remember: The more accurate and detailed the information you add, the better your freelancer profile will be.
  5. At the end of the onboarding process, you are required to phone verify your account.
