This article answers the most common questions clients ask about using Fiverr. You can jump to the section you need or read through for a full overview. Use these answers to manage your account, place orders, handle payments, and stay safe on the platform.
Account management
- A small circle next to each Fiverr username shows whether a freelancer is online or offline. Green means online and grey means offline. You can see this status on a freelancer's profile, in your inbox and order conversations, and on Gig pages, whether you use desktop or mobile. You can also filter marketplace results by availability from the Category, Subcategory, and advanced search pages.
- You can manage your notifications on the mobile app or the desktop site.
- Mobile: Go to Settings, scroll to Notifications, and adjust the settings you want.
- Desktop: Click your profile picture, go to Settings, then Notifications, and toggle the options you want to receive.
Policies & safety

We may ask for a few details, but we will never ask for:
- Your password or sign-in credentials
- Your password by email
- You to log into a site outside the fiverr.com domain
- You to download or install an application
If you receive any such request, do not download or run the application or email attachment. These messages are not sent from us.
- Your privacy is important to us. As a member of the Fiverr community, your personal data is protected, and we apply technological and organizational measures to keep it safe and to protect your rights. Learn more in Fiverr's Privacy Policy, which is part of our Terms of Service.

No. For your safety, all payments are made through Fiverr on the order page, and clients pay for orders in advance.
We cannot assist if you pay a freelancer outside the platform. If you are asked to use an alternative payment method, report it to Customer Service right away.
- The verification process relies on the information the freelancer provides, so we cannot guarantee that they are who they claim to be or that their data is accurate. We encourage and enforce that all communication and transactions stay on Fiverr, which also allows us to support both clients and freelancers. Use your best judgment and learn more with Communication: The dos and don'ts.
Payments & orders
How do I order a Gig using the mobile app?
- On the Gig page, tap Continue.
- Add Gig extras or order multiples by tapping Add Gig extras or Extra quantity.
- Tap Continue, then go to the Payment page.
- Complete the purchase with your preferred payment method, or enable Single click payments so orders are created automatically.
What are Gig extras and Gig multiples?
- Gig extras: Additional services offered on top of a freelancer's Gig for an extra price. The freelancer sets the extra amount.
- Gig multiples: The option to order additional quantities of a freelancer's Gig.
In both cases, increasing the quantity does not automatically adjust the delivery time. Your freelancer may need extra time to complete the additional work, so we recommend agreeing on deadline expectations before you order.
Which payment methods can I use?
- You can order Gigs using PayPal or a credit card.
- Apple Pay is available for iOS users, and Google Pay is available for Android users.
- Enable Single click payments to avoid logging into your PayPal account each time. You can also log into PayPal for each purchase.
-
- Click Proceed to order on the Gig you want to order.
- Customize your order if you want, then click Proceed to payment.
- Before placing your order, click Enter promo code under your order summary, click Apply, then click Place Your Order.
Promo codes cannot be applied to an ongoing order and cannot be added later. Once an order is placed without the promo code, the code cannot be applied to that order.
How do I rate my experience and leave a tip?
- Log in and click Orders from the top menu bar.
- At the top of the Orders page, find the banner that says Your order was completed, then click Rate Experience.
Once an order is marked as completed, you can leave a tip for your freelancer. The tip option stays open for 30 days after the order is completed. You can give a custom tip, leave a review of your freelancer's work, or simply say thanks.
Tip limits are in place to prevent fraud:
- The minimum tip is $5 USD.
- For orders below $25 USD, the tip can be up to $25 USD.
- For orders above $25 USD, the tip can be up to 100% of the order price.
When you click Tip now, the tip is deducted from your Fiverr balance. If there are no funds in your balance, you are redirected to the payment page. All transactions, including tips, require the service fee.
- The service fee on tips helps cover the administrative costs of processing payments and maintaining the platform. It also prevents manipulation, where lower Gig prices could be used to bypass standard fees. This supports ongoing improvements and customer support.

Payments can be declined for several reasons. Make sure that:
- Your payment details are entered correctly.
- Your credit or debit card is valid and not expired.
- You have available funds on your card.
Your payment source has more information about why a payment was declined than we do, so check with your bank or PayPal if payment issues arise.
If you still have issues, try a different payment option. For example, if you are using PayPal, try your credit card. If problems continue, contact Customer Support.
-
Fiverr Credits reflect funds awarded to you by Fiverr, for example through the referral program. Keep in mind:
- You can only use Fiverr Credits to order services on Fiverr.
- Credits have an expiration date and are non-refundable.
- Fiverr Credits are applied first when you place a new order.
- Only freelancers can withdraw money from their Fiverr accounts, and only if they earned revenue through Fiverr. As a client, if your order is canceled, the original order amount and service fee appear in your Fiverr balance and can be used for another order. If you prefer a direct refund, you can request it here. Learn more with Using your Fiverr Balance and how it is applied.
-
Payments do not always create an immediate order. Your bank or payment processor may run pre-screening checks before funds are released to Fiverr, or there may be a technical issue sending the funds. If this happens, contact Customer Support with the following:
- Your PayPal purchase transaction ID. This is an alphanumeric string following a hashtag, for example #123ABC456DEF. You can find it in your receipt email or in the details of the payment in your PayPal account. Receipt numbers are also helpful.
- The Gig title or freelancer name.
- The total purchase amount.
Customer Support can try to restore the order with the payment provided, or make a refund to the payment provider if you are unable to.
- We encourage you to work things out with your freelancer using the Resolution Center. For more, see resolving issues with an order.
- Yes. We refund the full amount of your purchase to your Fiverr balance. If you prefer the money returned to your PayPal or credit card instead, request a refund here. Learn more with Refunds.
- Commercial use means you intend to use a freelancer's delivered work for business purposes and for profit. It relates to the service's license details and confirms that you have resell rights to a service. For example, a company needs commercial rights to a logo in order to trademark it.
- Unless the Gig description clearly states otherwise, you are granted all intellectual property rights when the order is delivered. This includes copyrights for the delivered work, and the freelancer waives any moral rights. All transfer and assignment of intellectual property to the client is subject to full payment of the Gig. For more information, see our Terms of Service under Ownership.
-
You can download attached files from messages and from deliveries. If you have trouble downloading files, try the following:
- Review your browser extensions.
- Check whether firewall or antivirus software is blocking downloads.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies.
- Check whether a pop-up blocker is enabled, and disable it for Fiverr.com.
After you check these steps, go to your order page and click the file or link in the delivery message. Make sure to download the full-sized file. If you copy the preview thumbnail shown on the order page, the file will be very low quality.
General questions
-
Milestones let your freelancer split a project into smaller tasks. They are usually used for larger, more complex projects, so you can follow progress and approve results throughout delivery. Milestones are only available for orders over $100 USD.
For example, if you order a logo design, your freelancer can split it into milestones. The first milestone might be three initial concepts, the second a draft of your selected logo, and so on, until the final delivery contains the final files.
Learn more with Milestones.
- The watermark protects the freelancer's work. When a freelancer delivers your order, you see a watermark on the image preview. After you accept the delivery, you can download the original image without the watermark.
- It means the freelancer is taking a break from Fiverr. On their profile and Gig pages, you can see their intended return date. You can send a message by clicking Contact and get notified when their time off is scheduled to end. You receive an email when the freelancer returns if they choose to allow it.
- The Fiverr mobile app lets you browse all the Gigs offered on Fiverr.com. You can communicate with freelancers through the app to create and manage orders on the go. More features that are exclusive to the full site are added over time.
- From time to time, we reach out to the Fiverr community. If you receive a message from an official Fiverr team member, it is marked with the Fiverr logo and a note that the person is an official Fiverr employee.
