Adding and managing your Gig video

A Gig video lets clients see your work quality and understand your service before placing an order, which can increase your chances of getting hired. You can add a video to any Gig on Fiverr, and in some Video & Animation categories, a video is required. Use a high-quality, original video focused on the service you offer, and make sure it follows our content and technical guidelines.

Before you begin

Gig videos are available to all freelancers. A video is required for the following Video & Animation subcategories:

  • Animation for Kids
  • App & Website Previews
  • Book Trailers and Game Trailers
  • Live-Action Explainers
  • Lyric and Music Videos
  • Real Estate Promos
  • Short Video Ads
  • Spokesperson Videos
  • Whiteboards
  • Animated Explainers

For all other categories, a video is optional but recommended.

You can add or manage your Gig video from the Gallery tab when creating or editing a Gig from your desktop.

Tips for your Gig video

Your video should:

  • Help the client visually understand your style: Set client expectations and give an idea of what you can deliver.
  • Be engaging: Some clients are more likely to place an order when they feel connected to your work.
  • Showcase your work and tell a story: Use a strategic and logical sequence when creating and editing your video, think of a beginning, middle, and end.

Gig video technical requirements

Your video must meet the following requirements before you upload it:

  1. Length: up to 75 seconds (no longer than one minute and 15 seconds)
  2. File size: less than 50 MB up to 5GB
  3. Accepted formats: MP4 and AVI
  4. Orientation: landscape only

Gig video approval process

When you upload a video, it goes through a review process. Your video stays pending until we approve it, and this review typically takes a few business days.

Once we approve your video, it goes live on your Gig page. While your video is pending, your Gig can still be active and visible to clients.

If your Gig is not active because your video is still pending after the expected review period, contact our support team.

How to add a Gig video

  1. Go to Create a New Gig > Gallery tab.
  2. Drag and drop your video file, or click to browse your computer for the file.

When clients search the marketplace, your video appears as the Gig cover image. Additionally, if you want to add a video to an existing Gig, go to your Gig page and open the Gallery tab of that Gig.

Managing your Gig video thumbnail

Your video thumbnail is the frame clients see when they browse the marketplace. You can customize it after your video is approved.

You cannot adjust your video thumbnail until we have approved your video.

To edit your video thumbnail:

  1. Go to Gig Edit mode > Gallery > Video > Edit.
  2. Click Play and pause the video on the frame you want to use as your thumbnail.
  3. Click Set as preview, then click Close.

After you update your thumbnail, it can take up to 24 hours for the change to appear on the marketplace.

Gig video guidelines

  • Follow these guidelines when creating your Gig video:
    • Keep your video focused on the service you offer and keep it concise.
    • Record clear audio without background noise. Use professional audio equipment and position your microphone properly.
    • Use your own voice when possible. If you use computerized narration, make sure it is high quality and sounds natural.
    • Mention that your services are offered exclusively on Fiverr.
    • If you offer your service in another language, write your Gig details in that language in addition to English. Your video can be in the other language, but include the language in your Gig title. Example: "I will create video ads in Spanish."
    • Use only content you created or fully own. Do not use copyrighted images, audio, or watermarks that are not yours.
  • Avoid the following when creating your Gig video:
    • Do not include contact information, URLs, or external links in your video. If you use portfolio samples, replace any contact details with placeholder information, for example "myemail@email.com" or "555-5555."
    • Do not use the same video for multiple Gigs. Each video must be specific to the service it represents.
    • Do not include Fiverr level badges, rating stars, or other Gig-specific metrics. These can change over time and may become inaccurate.
    • Do not ask another freelancer to create samples of your work. If your service is in the Video & Animation category, you cannot use another freelancer to create your Gig video.

Video & Animation category: Subcategories

Freelancers in any category can add a video to their Gig. However, a video is required for all Gigs in the Video & Animation category.

Since each Video & Animation subcategory highlights different services and skills, make sure your Gig video clearly showcases your relevant expertise and work.

Audio is required in the videos of all subcategories (except for "Logo Animation," "Animated characters & Modeling," and "Visual Effects").

Guidelines for each subcategory

Whiteboard & Animation Explainers

  • Demonstrate different functionalities for both existing products and work in progress. Use this in your Gig Video to explain a complicated business or a product.
    • Videos can be either Animated Explainer samples or showreels of a few compiled samples.
    • Video may include a voice-over, if you offer this in your Gig Packages.

Disclaimer: Subcategories in the Video & Animation category are subject to change. Learn more about the Product Photography subcategory changes with Photography and related services.

  • Use Intros & Outros to help engage audiences before and after they watch your videos. This includes YouTube Intros, Call for Action Outros, and Twitch Scenes.

Please note, if your service is about animating a logo (even if it will be used as an intro), Fiverr recommends that you place your Gig in the Logo Animation subcategory.

  • This is a service that's focused on animating your client's existing logo. Help clients by building a professional, recognizable brand with custom-made logo animation. You can also utilize this service to spice up promotional videos, product UI, social networks, and even email signatures.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • Include 3-10 seconds of moving/animated logos.
    • Put a few logo animation examples together (one after another in your video) to showcase your reviews with files.
    • Audio isn't mandatory unless offered in one of your Gig Packages.
  • This service is for template-based slideshows and promo videos.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • Provide a great, quick solution for customer video needs.
    • Examples: App and website previews, book trailers, or even slideshow videos for a real estate property or family vacation.
    • If you're using a specific template, make sure you showcase this in your Gig video.
    • If you're using a few templates, make sure to display them all.
  • Use this service to add credibility, build trust, and highlight the personality and emotions behind a company or a product.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • Scripted videos should include actual production/video footage.
    • Videos are made to explain and should include live/actual footage.

Footage can be stock footage that you have the license/permission to use.

  • Utilize Short Video Ads to drive action in specific social networks and platforms. Keep in mind that your Gigs in this subcategory should be:

    • Specifically designed for the short internet-age attention span.
    • Can be created/are in multiple formats and versions, enabling marketing performance optimization across various channels.
    • Videos should be short (5-60 seconds), platform-specific (vertical/square), include either animation or live-action and be marketers/marketing focused.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • Include videos with the aspect ratio that you are offering in your Gig. If you are providing all options, make sure to include all of them.
    • If you're debating whether your video belongs to one of the Explainer subcategories or this subcategory, the focus for these videos is selling.
    • If your video is about a drive to action, your video should be placed here.

If your video is about explaining, we suggest you place your Gig in one of the Explainer subcategories.

  • Help customers describe their service, vision, and product with this subcategory.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • It has to be you on camera.
    • Freelancers may speak on behalf of a company and talk about its value proposition but not present themselves as a user or client.
    • If you're offering different settings/outfits, make sure to showcase these in either your video or Gig images.
  • Shoot video footage and edit it into a short and compelling video, or repurpose a video your client already has.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • Videos where your editing skills are explicit.
    • Examples: Editing to the beat, showing rare footage, compiling footage in a cool and engaging way, multiple cut-downs of one video ad, etc.
    • All video samples should be edited yourself, and showcase your talent as a video editor.
  • Bring 3D models, products, or characters to life with this subcategory. Whether it's a medical device, gadget, or elaborate video game characters, you can really get things moving with a Gig Video for your professional rigging and animation services.

Add audio to enhance your Gig Video, this is not mandatory.

  • Take your client's video to the next level with visual effects. Whether it's color grading, compositing, clean-ups, beauty retouching, or anything else, all the services for a post-production project are here.

    Guidelines for Gig Video:

    • Focus your videos on fixing/improving/enhancing existing footage, rather than video editing.
    • Your video may be super short, and we recommend being widescreen instead of vertical/square.
    • Showcase before and after videos.
  • From clips made of pre-taped footage with artistic lyrics and titles to custom video productions that will bring your customer's music to the screen, you have an opportunity to offer a wide variety of lyric or music videos.

Audio is mandatory when uploading a video to this subcategory.

  • Create engaging content for children, from nursery rhymes to educational animation.
