Seller Plus includes three tools designed to help you attract new clients, reward returning ones, and re-engage past clients. This article explains how to use First-time client promotions, Coupons, and Follow-up messages and how to get the most out of them.
How to access your marketing tools
- Log in to your Fiverr freelancer account.
- Click Growth & Marketing in the top navigation menu.
- Select Marketing Tools from the dropdown.
All monthly limits reset on your Seller Plus monthly billing cycle date, not the calendar month. Unused allowances do not roll over.
First-time client promotions
First-time client promotions let you offer a 5% or 10% discount to clients who have never ordered from you before. Eligible clients see a promotion pop-up when they visit a Gig you have included in the promotion. The discount is applied automatically to their first order.
- Seller Plus Standard members have a monthly limit of 10 orders.
- Seller Plus Premium members have a monthly limit of 20 orders.
If the limit is reached, all active and scheduled promotions for the current monthly billing cycle automatically end.
About First-time client promotions
First-time client promotions let you offer an automatic discount to clients who have never ordered from you before.
The basics
- You set a discount of 5% or 10%, choose which Gigs to include, and set a start and end date (up to 30 days).
- The discount is applied automatically; the client does not need a code.
- "First-time" means new to you, not new to Fiverr.
- Clients who have ordered from you before won't see the promotion.
- Once created, a promotion cannot be edited. You can end it early by clicking the three dots next to an active promotion and selecting End Early.
Requirements
- You can have up to five active or scheduled promotions at a time, with only one per Gig.
- Eligible Gigs must have at least one package priced at $15 USD or more.
- Cannot be combined with coupons, custom offers, or milestone orders.
How to track promotions
You can see all your promotions, including status, discount rate, orders generated, and dates, from the My Promotions tab on your Marketing Tools page.
First-time client promotions cannot be edited once created or combined with seller coupons, other discounts, custom offers, or milestone orders.
- Follow these steps to set up a new First-time client promotion:
- Go to Growth & Marketing and click on Marketing Tools.
- Click Create a promotion.
- Select the Gigs you want to include, then click Add promotion details.
- Enter a promotion name (visible to you only), select your discount, and set the start and end dates.
- Click Review details, then click Confirm promotion.
-
Go to the My Promotions tab on the Marketing Tools page to see all your promotions, including their name, discount amount, dates, orders generated, and current status.
To end a promotion early, click the three dots next to an active promotion and select End Early.

Coupons
Coupons let you send a personalized discount code directly to past clients to encourage a repeat order. Coupons are client-specific and can only be used by the client you send them to.
Coupons are offered by you directly to your clients, not by Fiverr. The discount amount comes out of your earnings. Your revenue will equal 80% of the post-discount order amount.
- Here's how coupons work:
- You set the discount (up to 30% off) and send it to a specific client from your Marketing Tools page.
- The coupon is tied to that client only; it cannot be used by anyone else, and it can only be used once.
- It's valid for 30 days from the date you send it.
- The discount comes out of your earnings, not Fiverr's fee. Your revenue equals 80% of the post-discount order amount.
- There are two types of coupons you can send:
- Repeat client coupons: Sent directly to past clients through the Marketing Tools page. Valid for 30 days.
- Custom offer coupons: A discount you attach to a custom offer. This is the only way to send a coupon to a client who has never ordered from you before.
- Before sending a coupon, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Monthly limit: Kickstart and Standard members receive five coupons. Premium members receive 20 coupons. Unused coupons do not roll over and reset on your Seller Plus monthly billing date.
- Discount: Up to a maximum of 30% off the Gig price.
- Minimum order amount: Coupons cannot be applied to orders below $15 USD.
- Client-specific: Each coupon can only be used by the client it was sent to, and only once.
- Cannot be combined with: Fiverr Credits, tips, or other promotional discounts. On milestone orders, the coupon applies to the first milestone only.
- Cancelled orders: If an order is cancelled, the coupon cannot be reused or replaced.
You can track coupon usage and stats from the My Coupons tab on the Marketing Tools page.
How to send a repeat client coupon
- Go to Growth & Marketing and click on Marketing Tools.
- Click Send a coupon.
- Select the clients you want to send a coupon to.
- Set the discount (up to 30%).
- Add an optional personal note (up to 250 characters).
- Click Send. The client receives an email and notification with the coupon.
You can also add a coupon when sending a custom offer. At the bottom of the offer creation form, check the box for Offer a Coupon and set the discount before sending.
Follow-up messages
Follow-up messages let you send a personalized message to past clients from your Fiverr dashboard to encourage repeat orders or introduce them to other Gigs you offer. All messages must adhere to Fiverr's Terms of Service and Community Standards.
Follow-up messages are available to Seller Plus Standard and Premium members only. The tool works on the web and can be viewed on the app.
- Here's how follow-up messages work:
- You choose a client, pick a message type, write your message, and send.
- The message lands in the client's inbox labeled "Follow-up from [your username]" so they know it's a proactive outreach, not a regular conversation.
- You can only send one follow-up per completed order.
- Choose from two message types when sending a follow-up:
- Encourage to reorder: The client sees the last Gig they ordered from you. Only available if that Gig is still active.
- Offer other Gigs: You select one to three active Gigs for the client to see alongside your message.
- Follow-up messages are subject to the following conditions:
- Monthly limit: Standard members get 10 per billing cycle. Premium members get 20 per billing cycle. The limit resets on your Seller Plus billing date.
- Character limit: 250 characters per message.
- Eligible clients: Clients who completed an order with you in the last 60 days and do not have an active coupon from you.
- One message per order: You can only send one follow-up per completed order.
- Client opt-out: Clients can unsubscribe from follow-up messages at any time. Once unsubscribed, they cannot re-subscribe, and you cannot contact them through this tool.
How to send a Follow-up message
- Go to Growth & Marketing and click on Marketing Tools.
- Select the Follow-up Messages tab.
- Browse or search for the client you want to contact.
- Choose your message type: Encourage to reorder or Offer other Gigs.
- Write your message. Fiverr provides a default template; we recommend editing it to sound personal and relevant to the client.
- Preview your message and select Gigs, then send.
Tip: Personalizing the default message, even briefly, tends to get a better response. Reference the specific project you worked on together or note something relevant to the Gig you are suggesting.
Best practices
- Use First-time client promotions on Gigs that are not already high-performers. This helps you gain new repeat clients without discounting your most in-demand work.
- Send repeat client coupons shortly after delivering an order, while the experience is still fresh. The sooner you follow up, the higher the chance of a repeat order.
- Use custom offer coupons to convert new leads; it is the only way to send a coupon to a client who has never ordered from you before.
- Use Follow-up messages strategically; you have a limited monthly quota. Prioritize clients from high-value orders or those most likely to benefit from a follow-up.
- Keep follow-up messages short, specific, and personal. The 250-character limit encourages brevity; use it to your advantage.
- Track all three tools from the Marketing Tools page to see which are driving the most orders and adjust your approach accordingly.
