A tip is a way to show extra appreciation when a freelancer has gone above and beyond.
On Fiverr, you can leave a tip for a freelancer after your order is complete; it goes directly to them as a separate payment. This article goes through the entire tipping process.
When can I leave a tip?
You can tip your freelancer once the order is marked as complete. The tipping window is open for 30 days after completion, after which the Tip Now option will no longer be available. In some cases, the tipping option may not appear due to internal guardrails.
The Tip Now option appears:
- On web: After you leave a review
- On the Fiverr app: Immediately after order completion, no review required
- For Hourly orders: Once the contract is completed and a review is added
- For Milestone orders: Once all milestones are completed and a review is added
If the 30-day window has passed, you can still show your appreciation by contacting your freelancer via your inbox and asking them to create a custom offer for a new order in the amount you'd like to tip. When doing this, make sure to clarify within the order that it is intended as a tip to avoid any confusion.
How much can I tip?
- Minimum tip: $5
- For orders below $25: you can tip up to $25
- For orders $25 or more: you can tip up to 100% of the order value
How does payment work?
When you click Tip Now, funds are deducted from your Fiverr Balance first. If your balance is insufficient, a payment window will open so you can complete the transaction using another payment method.
Tips are charged with Fiverr's standard service fee. They are treated as separate transactions, so they generate a separate invoice.
