Logo Maker lets clients purchase a ready-to-use logo built from a design you create, then edit it themselves with no extra work from you. Once a client buys one of your designs, we give them tools to customize it, and you continue earning from that design over time.
Before you begin
This article is for freelancers who already have a Logo Maker account. Logo Maker is currently closed to new freelancers.
There are two levels of access within Logo Maker:
- All current Logo Maker freelancers can edit, track, and earn from their published designs.
- Only a limited number of eligible freelancers can add new logos at this time. If you become eligible, we'll notify you.
If we reopen the program to new freelancers, or expand upload access, we'll let you know.
To access Logo Maker, log in, switch to selling, and go to My Business > Logo Maker.
How Logo Maker works
Clients can purchase a logo without any extra effort from you. After a client buys your design, they can:
- Enter their brand name, slogan, design, and branding preferences into Logo Maker's Brief Wizard. They see a personalized, real-time catalog of logos that best match their brand name and slogan.
- Edit the logo and adjust typography, colors, and layout using the Editor tool.
There is no communication between you and the client for Logo Maker orders. You cannot make revisions, and you do not influence the client's design choices.
Customizations & packages
If a client wants specific customization from you, they can order a custom service directly from you.
After a client purchases a logo, they can upgrade the logo package or buy additional logo variations. This generates more revenue for you, since 20% of every additional order goes to you, with no extra effort required.
If a client purchased the basic package, they can upgrade to the professional package for $30 USD within the first 72 hours, or for $45 USD after that. Clients can also purchase additional logo variations, such as font, layout, and color, for $15 USD per variation.
Logo statuses
Each logo design you publish has a status:
- Pending: the logo stays in pending mode for up to four days before it turns active.
- Draft: the design is unfinished. Finalize publishing to change its status to active.
- Paused: the design is published but not offered for sale, so clients cannot see it. Your design switches to paused if you reach your limit of active logos.
- Active: the design is published and offered for sale.
We occasionally review accounts that reach their limit of active logos and notify you if you're eligible to increase that limit; however, you can't currently request an increase on your own.

- Click a logo to open a side panel showing its performance data, variations, metadata, and recent orders
If a client has already purchased a design, you cannot delete it.
The metrics table displays detailed stats of each individual logo design:
- Status: whether the design is pending, draft, paused, or active.
- Earnings: the total amount you've earned from that design so far.
- Click rate (CR): how often clients who see the design go on to click it.
- Orders: the number of times that design has been purchased.
- Clicks: how many times a client clicked the design.
- Favorites: how many times clients added the design to their favorites.
- Impressions: how many times the design was shown to a client.
- Last order: the date of the design's most recent order.
- Actions: the options available for that design, including pausing it, sharing it, editing it, viewing it as a client would see it, or deleting it.
The Insights tab shows Logo Maker trends, including top searched industries, top converting industries, top picks by industry and tag, and industries with low logo supply.
The earliest date you can view data in the dashboard is January 1, 2022. Activity and metrics from before this date, including "Total" and "all time" data, are not shown.
Earnings tier model
Your earnings share, the percentage of each sale you keep, is based on your total Logo Maker sales over the last 12 months. The higher your sales, the higher your earnings share.
- Entry-level freelancers start at a 20% earnings share.
- We recalculate your tier on the first day of every month.
- Your earnings share applies as a fixed percentage regardless of which package a client purchased.
| Sales amount (last 12 months) | Earnings share per sale |
|---|---|
| $1 USD–$499 USD | 20% |
| $500 USD–$2,499 USD | 25% |
| $2,500 USD–$9,999 USD | 30% |
| $10,000 USD–$19,999 USD | 35% |
| $20,000 USD–$29,999 USD | 40% |
| $30,000 USD–$49,999 USD | 45% |
| $50,000 USD+ | 50% |
The tier-based earnings model took effect on March 1, 2023. It applies to Logo Maker packages (Essential, Professional, and Unlimited), package upgrades, and new paid variations ($15 USD each). It does not apply to other products or services you sell outside Logo Maker.

Best practices for creating logos
This section is relevant for those freelancers who can upload new logos to Logo Maker.
- Keep logos simple: favor minimal, focused designs over complex ones, and center each logo around one or two emotions.
- Design for versatility: use single-letter monograms and leave room for both short and long business names.
- Avoid duplicate uploads: add real variations in color, layout, or font instead of uploading near-identical designs.
- Build out variations: aim for four to five varied typography, color, and layout options per logo.
- Cover different layouts: design for both vertical and horizontal formats, such as social media, business cards, and merchandise.
- Tag accurately: use simple, element-specific tags based on what's visually in the logo.
- Pick a specific industry: choose the most specific sub-industry rather than a broad category.
- Use color palettes thoughtfully: vary hue, saturation, and value across variations, and avoid gradients.
- Set up typography and layers first: layering is fixed (text, symbol, shape), so arrange and crop your symbol before uploading.
- Keep your active lineup strong: swap out lower-performing designs for higher-quality ones over time.
FAQs
The new tier-based earnings model took effect on March 1, 2023, and it applies to all Logo Maker packages and new paid variations; however, it doesn't apply to orders outside of Logo Maker.
We reevaluate your earnings tier placement on the first day of each month.
The monthly calculation works the same way, with fewer months to review. We reevaluate your placement on the first day of each month, starting from the month you began selling logos. Once you've sold for 12 or more months, we recalculate your placement based on your total sales in the last 12 months.
Yes. If your sales decrease, we may downgrade your earnings tier, since we calculate it based on your last 12 months of sales.
Uploading a wider variety of high-quality logos, where you're eligible to do so, increases your chances of matching more clients, which can raise your income potential.
Yes. We determine your upload capacity based on your performance and reevaluate it monthly.
You can view your tier on the Overview tab of your Logo Maker dashboard.
Yes, it applies to logo packages (Essential, Professional, and Unlimited), package upgrades, and new paid variations ($15 USD each). It does not apply to other products or services you sell outside Logo Maker.
We recommend four to five variations that differ in color, layout, or typography. This gives clients more options and increases your chances of a sale.
The same symbol in a different color, rotation, or font counts as a variation, not a new design. If you reuse a design, add or remove enough elements to make it distinct before publishing it separately.
Pick the most specific sub-industry that fits your design, and tag it based on what's visually in the logo rather than abstract concepts or industry names.
