Hourly payment protection policy

Fiverr’s Hourly Payment Protection is a safeguard designed to ensure you get paid for your Hourly contracts, even in the event of a client’s payment failure. This policy supports freelancers who maintain transparency, clearly log their hours, and comply with all contract and policy requirements, allowing you to focus on your work with confidence.

All Fiverr Terms of Service and Fiverr Pro Terms of Service apply to Fiverr's Hourly Payment Protection.

Overview

Hourly Payment Protection ensures that you are compensated for your logged time on Hourly orders if a client’s payment fails.

  • What it does: Compensates freelancers for work completed on Hourly orders when a client’s payment fails. Appropriate compensation is determined individually.
  • Why it’s useful: Provides a safeguard for freelancers, ensuring you get paid for your work and supporting those who log their hours clearly and stay within contract limits.
  • Who it’s for: Freelancers working on Hourly orders with a client.

Protection eligibility

To be eligible for Hourly Payment Protection and receive compensation in the event of a payment failure, you must meet all account and contract requirements and ensure your hours are clearly documented.

Allow seven days for the client to update their payment method. If the issue remains unresolved after that period, please contact Customer Support for further assistance.

  • To qualify for payment protection, your logged hours must:

    • Include a clear & specific task description.
    • Reflect only time you have actually worked.
    • Include supporting files like deliverables or screenshots, when applicable.
    • Be submitted before the weekly payment is due.

Important: Vague entries such as "test," "work," or empty fields may disqualify your hours. Additionally, logs that suggest you weren’t actively working are not covered.

  • To be eligible for Hourly payment protection, you must:
    • Have worked on an Hourly order with a client.
    • Stay within your weekly hour limit.
    • Use your account in compliance with Fiverr's Terms of Service and Community Standards.
  • If your client fails to pay, follow these steps to activate your Hourly payment protection:

    1. Stop all work on the order in question. The order will be automatically suspended, and you will no longer be able to log additional hours.
    2. Wait as Fiverr contacts the client to resolve the payment issue.
    3. If payment is not settled within 7 days, you will be entitled to receive compensation.
    4. Reach out to Customer Support.
    5. Request compensation for your Hourly order and provide relevant details.

Fiverr will review your logged hours, and if all criteria are met, you will be compensated for that billing cycle.

What's not covered?

Hourly Payment Protection does not apply to:

  • Hours that exceed your weekly contract limit or were logged after the payment failure.
  • Tips, milestones, extras, subscriptions, or fixed-price projects.
  • Task descriptions that are vague, empty, irrelevant, or fake.
  • Logs that suggest you weren’t actively working.
  • Any disputes that are not related to the payment (client rejects the weekly report).
  • Any misuse of this policy or breach of Fiverr's Terms, which shall render an Hourly order ineligible for payment protection, as determined at Fiverr’s sole discretion.
