Subscription orders for clients

With subscriptions, you can plan ahead and book repeat orders with freelancers you love working with, saving you time on future orders. Working with a freelancer who understands both your needs and brand saves you the hassle of having to place the same order and send requirements every time.

Before you begin

Subscriptions allow you to maintain a long-term working relationship with a freelancer for up to a 6-month period. Depending on the time period chosen, the same order is automatically billed from your saved payment method.

Subscription orders work best for clients who want consistent delivery for recurring projects.

  • Subscriptions are only available in certain subcategories and to select freelancers.
  • Only Gigs with packages exceeding $10 and a maximum of 30 days delivery are eligible.
  • Voice Over Gigs may start their word count at $5.

You cannot use the milestone feature and subscriptions simultaneously within the same order.

How subscriptions work

Each order in a subscription is independent. The next order will begin regardless of the previous one's status unless the subscription is canceled.

  •

    • Default payment method: The method charged will be your default payment method at the time of purchase, which may differ from the original method used.
    • Required payment method: Without a saved payment method, the next order can’t be processed.
    • Payment notifications: You will receive an email to add a payment method for your next purchase.
    • Failed payments: If your payment fails or is paid later than scheduled, the following orders will be pushed to the new billing date.

An order can’t be force-started before its scheduled date.

  • Freelancers can offer discounts on upcoming orders when you subscribe to their Gig.
    • Gig packages: Discounts are only available for subscriptions ordered through a Gig package.
    • Application: If offered, the discount is applied from the second order onwards.
    • Visibility: You can see the offered discounts in the "Choose your plan" section.
  • If you need more flexibility than a standard Gig package provides, you can ask your freelancer to create a custom offer.
    • Custom intervals: Through custom offers, freelancers can set any interval, including daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly.
    • Updating requirements: You can update your requirements for each order as needed. If your requirements change, let the freelancer know at the start of the order; they can charge for extra requirements on the order page if necessary.

If you order a subscription via a custom offer, the freelancer cannot offer a subscription discount.
