Gig packages are a pricing structure that lets you build service tiers by combining your basic Gig with revisions and extras. Packages give you the flexibility to position your services at any price point, help clients order exactly what they need in one click, and ensure everyone is aligned on scope before the order begins. For select categories, we apply standardized package requirements to keep offerings consistent and comparable across the platform.
Before you begin
- To set up packages, you need an active Gig or you need to be in the process of creating one.
- Access package settings from the Pricing section in the Gig create & edit flow.
- If your Gig is in a standardized category, review the category requirements before making changes to ensure your packages meet the minimum standards.
Gig packages functionality
Packages let you offer up to three service tiers that clients can compare and choose from. Each tier can include a different scope of work, number of revisions, and extras. Clients can also add upgrades at checkout.
Packages include two types of add-ons:
- Upgrades: predefined factors clients can add to a selected package at checkout
- Extras: unique add-ons you can offer separately, but cannot include in a package
Our standard service fee applies to all packages, and packages do not affect your ratings.
Standardized Gig packages
For certain categories, we require standardized packages to improve catalog quality and help clients compare offerings across the platform. Standardized packages set a minimum service scope for each package in your Gig. If your Gig is in one of these categories, you must meet the minimum requirements to keep your Gig active and visible.
| Category | Sub & Nested Category | Min Price |
|---|---|---|
| Programming & Tech | Mobile Apps → Full App Creation | $100 |
| Video & Animation | 3D Product Animation | $100 |
| Data | Data Science → Full Project | $80 |
| WordPress | Full Website Creation | $80 |
| AI Services | AI Artists (e.g., Midjourney) | $15 |
Standardization types
We apply the following standardization elements to define what your packages must include:
Service type sits within the category tree, one level inside the subcategory. Choosing the right service type ensures your Gig reaches the right clients and uses the correct pricing and metadata for your service.
Some metadata at the Gig level is mandatory. Completing these fields helps search and browse filters show your Gig to the right clients.
Some elements involve a quantity (such as words, seconds, pages, or hours) that your package must include. There are two types:
Minimal scope: the quantity in your package must equal or exceed this value.
Fixed value: a specific quantity that all Gigs in the category must use for the same scope of work.
A pricing element that is an integral part of the service type. You cannot create a Gig in this category without delivering this element in the package.
A pricing element you cannot include in this package. It may be available in other packages or as a standalone extra.
Your package price must be at or above this amount to keep pricing realistic, maintain the category's quality standards, and ensure fair competition.
We recommend adding this element as an extra to expand your offering and reach more potential clients. In rare cases, adding it may be mandatory to ensure proper pricing for a specific element.
How to set up Gig packages
- To create or activate packages on your Gig:
- Go to your Gig's Pricing section in the Gig create & edit flow.
- Click the 3 Packages toggle to activate packages mode.
- Set the scope, revisions, and extras for each package.
- Add a name, description, pricing, and delivery time for each package.
- Click Save.
If your Gig is in a standardized category:
- Review the minimum requirements for your category before editing.
- Update each package to meet all mandatory pricing elements.
- Fill in all required metadata fields.
- Save your changes before the deadline.
If your Gig does not meet the minimum requirements for its current category, consider moving it to a more relevant one. Missing required fields may reduce your Gig's visibility in search.
Best practices
- Naming your packages: Keep package names simple and descriptive. Each name should highlight what makes that tier distinct and stand out to clients who are comparing options.
- Choosing what to include: Think about the extras clients ask for most often, or the elements that make your Gig deliver the best results. Build each package around those elements and price them accordingly.
- Staying compliant with standardized requirements: Check your dashboard for notifications about required updates. Complete any required changes within 30 days. If you do not make the required changes within this timeframe, your Gig may lose visibility on the platform.
- Using custom offers for non-standard requests: Standardized package requirements apply to the package structure only, not to custom offers. If a client has specific needs that your packages do not cover, you can create a custom offer at an agreed price.
