Gigs best practices

A well-crafted Gig is your storefront on Fiverr. These best practices cover everything you need to build a strong profile, write compelling Gig content, price your services, and promote your work to grow your business.

Fiverr policies & guidelines

To keep Fiverr a high-quality and safe marketplace, all members must follow our Community Standards. Here are the key policies to help you and your clients have the best experience.

  • Follow these guidelines to present yourself authentically on Fiverr:
    • Use a profile picture so clients can put a face to your name.
    • Write an accurate description of your professional background.
    • Add your education and skills to showcase your qualifications.
    • Fill out the professional website section for extra credibility with Fiverr's moderation teams.
  • Follow these guidelines to maintain professional communication on Fiverr:
    • Your services must align with our Terms of Service.
    • Keep all business communication on Fiverr to stay protected and supported.
    • Be polite, send informative updates, and maintain a collaborative relationship with clients.
    • Do not spam members or contact them about anything unrelated to their Gigs or orders.
    • Do not ask clients for positive reviews. The best way to earn a great review is to be responsive, professional, and helpful.
    • Do not discriminate based on gender, religion, ethnicity, or nationality.

Optimizing your Gig content

The right content attracts the right clients. Focus on each of the following areas to make your Gig stand out.

  • Your title appears in search results and creates your first impression. Start with a strong verb after "I will," use the most relevant keyword, and make sure it is grammatically correct.
  • Browse your subcategory to find the most common keywords for your service, then add the relevant tags to your Gig.
  • Clearly describe what you offer and what sets you apart. Include:

    • The value and skills you bring.
    • Any services you do not provide.
    • Languages, platforms, or software you use (when relevant).
    • Your turnaround time and number of revisions.

Avoid repeating information you have already provided in other sections of your Gig.

  • Add FAQs to your Gig so clients know exactly what to expect before ordering. Include the questions you are most frequently asked and any other relevant information clients should know.
  • Use a template in your Gig requirements to save time and set clear expectations. List everything you need from a client to start the order.

Optimizing your Gig gallery

Visuals are often the first thing clients notice. A strong gallery increases click-through rates and helps clients understand your service quickly.

  • Use high-quality, visually appealing Gig images. See our Gig image guidelines for specifications.
  • Add a video showreel to showcase your skills. Gigs with videos perform better.
  • For non-visual services, create a unique image that explains your Gig and attracts clients. Including a photo of yourself can add credibility.
  • After uploading your image, review your Gig card to make sure it looks centered and clear.
  • PDFs with reviews or your resume are good options for written-word content.

Pricing your Gig

When setting your price, consider how long the service takes, what your time is worth, and that your earnings are 80% of the purchased amount.

  • Check the average rate in the marketplace for your service before setting your price.
  • Use Gig Extras to offer additional services for a fee (for example, providing a source file for an extra charge).
  • Use the custom offer feature to create tailored offers for clients with specific needs.
  • Create at least three packages at different price points to capture a wider audience.
  • As your reputation grows, revisit your rates and increase them accordingly.

Promoting your Gig

Once your Gig is optimized, use these tools to increase your visibility and attract more clients.

  • Custom offers: Send personalized offers to clients who need a tailored service.
  • Freelancer badge embed: Add a badge to your personal blog or website that links directly to your profile.
  • Social media share: Share your profile on social media to bring your followers to your Gig.
  • Matching with clients: Use the Fiverr matching feature to find relevant client requests and send offers.
